Niger Delta militant leader, Alhaji Asari-Dokubo, who was arrested on Tuesday in Cotonou, Benin Republic has been released by the Gendarmes. Asari was released around 1am on Thursday after alleged intervention by President Goodluck Jonathan on his behalf. I hear he has returned to his base in Abuja.
His lawyer, Festus Keyamo, confirmed his release.
