The PDP is still in serious crisis and President Goodluck Jonathan is
afraid that if they hold a meeting now, any thing discussed can be
leaked to the fast-growing opposition party, APC, by the remaining two
out of the seven governors who were in the New PDP - Governors Babangida
Aliyu and Sule Lamido.
He also believe that they are still bent on conspiring with other PDP
governors to remove the party chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who is
very loyal to him. Consequently, the Presidency has called for the
suspension of the much anticipated PDP NEC meeting to give Jonathan more
time to "settle".
Jonathan is however begging Governors Aliyu and Lamido to tell him where they stand first.
The President want the party leadership to have more
time to persuade the warring Governors of Niger State and Jigawa State
to return fully to the PDP before the NEC meeting.
The NEC meeting, earlier fixed for Wednesday, January 8, 2014, will now hold on January 16, with the BoT meeting scheduled for January 15 and the National Caucus meeting slated for January 14.
And these two governors are entitled to attend the meetings, hence the fear on the part of the President.
A credible source in Abuja told Tweet9ja that more surprises await Jonathan and the PDP as about 5 more governors are already on their way to the APC if Tukur is not removed as chairman this January.
